Dahlias grown from seed at Fairplace.
These dahlias were originally grown from crosses made in the garden. The resulting seedlings were grown to flowering the next year. The best plants were selected and the tubers from those were saved over the winter. New plants were generated from cuttings in the spring and grown on in the subsequent year. These were the best varieties we’ve grown so far, and all of these have now appeared at flower shows around the area (either in a single-variety vase or as part of a cut-flower mixed display). They have been named (and registered with the RHS) to make it easier to track and describe them!
